Suspension D&R Engineer

Location: Camaçari, BA – Brazil

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Suspension D&R Engineer to lead the design and release of critical suspension and wheel end components for future Ford vehicles. In this role, you will act as the technical owner of assigned systems, driving robust engineering solutions from concept through production and launch.

You will play a key role in ensuring performance, durability, quality, and cost targets are met, while collaborating closely with global teams across South America and North America. This position requires strong technical leadership, sound engineering judgment, and a passion for high-performance vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and release of suspension and wheel end components (knuckles, hubs, bearings, arms, and links)
• Own component delivery throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept to launch and field support
• Drive achievement of quality, cost, weight, and timing targets
• Lead development of Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, and DFMEA
• Define and approve validation and durability plans (DVP&R)
• Support and lead prototype builds, testing, and vehicle launch activities
• Provide technical leadership and direction to Full-Service Supplier (FSS) partners
• Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
• Execute and approve engineering releases and changes in WERS / FEDEBOM
• Collaborate cross-functionally with simulation, attribute, steering, braking, and driveline teams
• Monitor field performance and quality indicators, driving continuous improvement actions
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related fields
• Extensive experience in Design & Release (D&R) within the automotive industry
• Strong hands-on experience with suspension and wheel end systems
• Proven experience supporting vehicle launches and production programs
• Advanced knowledge of Ford systems: GPDS, WERS, FEDEBOM, FEDE
• Proficiency with CATIA / Teamcenter / 3DX
• Strong knowledge of DFMEA, P-Diagrams, SCCAF, and DVP&R
• Advanced English for global technical leadership and communication
